REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves aligning the front end and installing front disc brake pads.

1.

Perform a front end alignment using the following preferred specifications:

Caster

+1.5 deg. (max left to right difference .25 deg.)

Camber

+ .5 deg. (max left to right difference .25 deg.)

Total Toe In

+.25 deg. (max left to right difference .05 deg.)

2.

Using the procedure outlined in the appropriate service manual, install brake pad set P/N 4796368.

Slight Front Brake Lead/Drift

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 05-15-94 REV. A DATED OCT. 7, 1994 WHICH SHOULD BE NOTED IN
THE 1994 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN MANUAL. THE 1995 MODEL YEAR BUILT PRIOR TO 12/01/94 (MDH 12-01-XX) HAS BEEN
ADDED.

MODELS:
1991 - *1995* (AN) Dakota (4x2 Only)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Slight lead or drift to the right or left while braking.

DIAGNOSIS:

Road test the vehicle. If the vehicle exhibits the symptoms, check the brake system and front suspension for any loose, worn, binding or damaged
components. Repair any problems encountered. If the vehicle still exhibits the symptoms, perform the repair procedure.

Perform a front end alignment using the following preferred specifications:

Caster

+1.5 deg. (max. left to right difference .25 deg.) 

Camber

+ .5 deg. (max. left to right difference .25 deg.) 

Total Toe In

+.25 deg. (max. left to right difference .05 deg.)

2.

Using the procedure outlined in the appropriate Dakota Service Manual, remove the rotors and resurface them.

3.

Install rotors.

4.

Using the procedure outlined in the appropriate Dakota Service Manual, install brake pad set, P/N 4796368.
