4. From the top of the ash receiver housing, use a blunt tool to push downward on the pivot of the push/push latch lever to disengage it from the
housing.
5. From the inside of the ash receiver housing, disengage the push/push latch lever guide tang from the keyed end of the guide slot in the top of the
housing.
ASSEMBLY
The push/push latch lever of the ash receiver and housing unit used in this vehicle is serviced individually. Following are the procedures for
assembling this component to the ash receiver and housing unit.
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIR-BAGS, DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY
STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, SEAT BELT TENSIONER, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR
SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE BATTERY NEGATIVE (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE
AIRBAG SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE
ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN
ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
1. From the inside of the ash receiver housing, engage the push/push latch lever guide tang into the keyed end of the guide slot in the top of the
housing.
2. From the inside of the ash receiver housing, align the push/push latch lever pivot pin with the pivot hole in the top of the ash receiver housing.
3. Using hand pressure, push firmly over the pivot pin until it snaps into the pivot hole in the top of the ash receiver housing.
