1.
Remove the cylinder head cover as outlined in the appropriate service manual.
2.
Thoroughly clean the cylinder head cover and cylinder head rail (head sealing surface).
3.
Check the cylinder head cover for distortion in the area of the fastener holes and flange and straighten as required, using a block of wood and
small hammer.
4.
Remove the cylinder head cover fastener studs.
NOTE:
FAILURE TO REMOVE THE STUDS WILL CAUSE INTERFERENCE WITH THE COMPRESSION LIMITERS IN THE
GASKET.
5.
Install the cylinder head cover and gasket using the new fasteners, tighten to 95 in.lbs. (10.7 N-m)
5.2L -
5.9L V8 ENGINES
1.
Remove the cylinder head cover as outlined in the appropriate service manual.
2.
Thoroughly clean the cylinder head cover and cylinder head rail (head sealing surface).
3.
Check the cylinder head cover for distortion in the area of the fastener holes and flange and straighten as required, using a block of wood and small
hammer.
4.
Install the cylinder head cover and gasket, tighten the new fasteners to 95 in.lbs. (10.7 N-m).
