Wheel Hub (Locking): Service and Repair
REMOVAL & DISASSEMBLE
Do not remove cam (outer) screws from cover. If cam screws are removed, misalignment could occur, causing damage to cam.
1. Turn to engage position.
2. Apply pressure to the face of the shift knob, remove three shift knob retaining screws.
3. Pull shift knob from mounting base and remove snap ring from axle shaft.
4. Remove capscrews and lock washers from mounting flange.
5. Remove locking hub assembly from rotor hub and discard gasket.
6. Wash parts in mineral spirits and blow dry with compressed air. Inspect components for damage.
ASSEMBLE & INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate parts with multipurpose lubricant part No. 2932524, or equivalent.
2. Install new gasket and locking hub onto rotor hub.
3. Install capscrews and lock washers and tighten to specification.
4. Install axle shaft snap ring and shift knob on mounting base.
5. Align the splines by pushing inward on shift knob and turning it clockwise to lock it in position.
6. Install and tighten three shift knob retaining screws.
