ABS Light: Description and Operation
The amber colored indicator lamp is located in the instrument cluster adjacent to the standard brake warning lamp. The anti-lock lamp alerts the
driver if an anti-lock system fault occurs.
The electronic control module will cause the two lamps to illuminate or flash to alert the driver that system operation is either normal or that a fault
has occurred.
The antilock lamp is also used for troubleshooting purposes. The lamp is in circuit with the control module which has a self test program. If a
system fault occurs, the program will flash the lamp when the diagnostic connector is grounded. The flash codes are used to identify a problem
component.
