Before installing pistons and connecting rods, ensure that the compression ring gaps are staggered so that neither is in line with the oil rail gap. Install
piston and connecting rod assembly into engine with notch or groove on top of piston facing front of engine and the larger chamfer on connecting rod
bore facing crankshaft journal fillet.
It is important that piston be checked for taper and elliptical shape before they are fitted into the cylinders. Refer to Fig. 15 for piston measurements.
