SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
A squealing and/or chirping noise coming from the drive belt when the engine is running. Vehicles experiencing this condition should have the following
procedure performed.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This procedure involves checking the power steering pump pulley alignment and replacement of the drive belt.
1. Verify that the power steering pump pulley is flush (+ or - 0.010 inch/.254 mm) with the power steering pump shaft.
2. To move the power steering pump pulley to a flush position, use special tool puller C-4333 or installer C-4063 as described on page 19-11 of the
1991 Dakota Service Manual, publication # 81-370-1110.
3. Vehicles that exhibit belt squealing and/or chirping, and the power steering pump pulley is aligned, should have the drive belt replaced as described
on page 7-34 of the 1991 Dakota Service Manual, publication # 81-370-1110.
