Accelerator Cable: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

Accelerator Pedal Removal/Installation

1.

From inside the vehicle, lift the accelerator pedal up and remove the throttle cable retainer and throttle cable from the top end of the pedal shaft.

2.

Remove the cable housing retainer clip and core wire cable retainer.  Remove the core wire from the pedal shaft.

Throttle Cable Attachment To Throttle Body

From the engine compartment, pull the throttle cable housing end-fitting out of the firewall grommet.  Make sure that the grommet remains in the
firewall.

4.

Remove the throttle cable T-slug from the throttle lever cam.  Remove the throttle cable retaining clip at the throttle lever cam and slide the T-slug
out.

5.

Using a pair of wide jaw pliers, pinch the tabs of the throttle cable end-fitting at the throttle cable bracket and pull the cable and end-fitting
assembly out of the bracket.

6.

Pulling on the throttle body end of the throttle cable, slide the cable out of the routing bracket and remove the whole assembly out of the vehicle.
