Recall for Transmission Crossmember Reinforcement Brackets on Dakota 4WD V8-47L VIN N (2000)

Raise vehicle on an appropriate hoist.

Inspect the right and left side of the transmission crossmember for the presence of crossmember reinforcement brackets (Figure 1). The brackets
are located at each end of the transmission crossmember, at the frame rail.
> If transmission crossmember reinforcement brackets are present, lower the vehicle and return it to the owner. No further action is required.
> If there are no transmission crossmember reinforcement brackets, proceed to Section "B". Transmission Crossmember Reinforcement Bracket

If so equipped, remove the front and rear skid plates.
2.
Place a jack stand under the transfer case housing and raise the transmission/transfer case assembly so that there is no weight on the transmission
crossmember.
3.
Remove the transmission crossmember-to-frame attaching bolts on the left side of the vehicle.
