NOTE:

This recall applies only to the above vehicles built through December 1, 1999 (MDH 1201XX).

(DN) Dodge Durango Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Trucks

NOTE:

This recall applies only to the above vehicles built through October 18, 1999 (MDH 1018XX).

IMPORTANT:

Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer vehicle inventory. Dealers should complete this repair on these vehicles before retail delivery.
Dealers should also perform this repair on vehicles in for service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the DIAL VIP System.

Subject

The front axle pinion nose bracket bolts on about 60,000 of the above vehicles may loosen after an extended period of time. Loose pinion nose bracket
bolts can cause the left and right axle attaching brackets to break off, leaving the axle supported only by the axle shafts. This may also cause front axle
and/or propeller shaft damage.

Repair

The front axle pinion nose bracket bolts must be replaced with bolts that have a lock patch to prevent loosening.

Parts Information

Each package contains 2 bolts.

Each dealer to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same street address) will receive enough Bolt Packages to service
about 25% of those vehicles.

Completion Reporting and Reimbursement

Claims for vehicles that have been serviced must be submitted on the DIAL System. Claims submitted will be used by DaimlerChrysler to record
Customer Satisfaction Notification service completions and provide dealer payments.

Use the labor operation number and time allowance as shown.

Add the cost of the parts package plus applicable dealer allowance to your claim.
