Reprogram Transfer Case Control Module

Models

2001 (AN) Dodge Dakota Four Wheel Drive (4WD)

NOTE:

This recall applies only to the above vehicles built from July 10, 2000 through January 19, 2001 (MDH 0710XX through 011913).

2001 (DN) Dodge Durango Four Wheel Drive (4WD)

NOTE:

This recall applies only to the above vehicles built from July 31, 2000 through January 22, 2001 (MDH 0731XX through 012222).

Subject

The electronic shift transfer case on about 85,000 of the above vehicles may not fully engage into gear when the operator rotates the transfer case control
switch. This may cause the transfer case to shift into the neutral position unexpectedly. If this occurs and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle
may roll away and cause an accident without warning.

Repair

The Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) must be reprogrammed (flashed).

Parts Information

Due to the likelihood that the required label is already in your parts inventory, no labels will be distributed initially. Labels may be ordered as needed to
support scheduled repairs.

Completion Reporting and Reimbursement

Claims for vehicles which have been serviced must be submitted on the DIAL System. Claims submitted will be used by DaimlerChrysler to record recall
service completions and provide dealer payments.
