Seat Belt Buckle Switch: Description and Operation
SYSTEM OPERATION
The driver seat belt switch is integral to the driver seat belt buckle-half assembly. The switch is normally closed, providing a ground path to the
instrument panel chime warning circuitry. When the tip half of the seat belt is inserted into the seat belt buckle, the switch opens the ground path.
The driver seat belt switch cannot be repaired and, if faulty or damaged, the entire driver seat belt buckle-half unit must be replaced.
