Recall - Coolant Temperature Sensor & Connector
348
January, 1984
TO:
All Chrysler-Plymouth & Dodge Dealers
SUBJECT:
Customer Satisfaction Recall #348 - Coolant Temperature Sensor and Connector Replacement
MODELS:
1984 Dodge 600 and Daytona; Chrysler E-Class, New Yorker, Laser and LeBaron Passenger Cars Equipped With 2.2L EFI or 2.2L
Turbocharged Engines
Coolant temperature sensors on the listed models may fail in the cold mode due to a supplier quality problem. Failure during vehicle operation will result
in activation of the "Power Limited" or "Power Loss" diagnostic signal light, but should not significantly affect engine performance. However, after the
ignition switch has been turned to the "off" position, a warm engine may not restart. To avoid this problem, the coolant temperature sensor on each
involved vehicle must be replaced. An improved connector which recently entered production will also be installed on those involved vehicles which do
not already have it.. Both parts have been revised for improved durability. In addition, a quick-disconnect is provided in one lead of the new connector.
This is to be used when setting engine idle speed or timing, instead of disconnecting at the sensor.
