1.

Remove fuel tank and gauge sending unit, and transfer hardware to new tank per service manual procedures.

Install Gauge Sending Unit Seal PN 3404451.

When installing new sending unit assembly into new tank, attach in-tank hose 8-1/4" to sending unit nipple using 1/4" Clamp PN 6500650. Then
install sending unit (Figure 2).

CAUTION:

BE CERTAIN THERE IS NO INTERFERENCE BETWEEN HOSE AND FLOAT ASSEMBLY (FIGURE 3).

4.

Reinstall fuel tank per service manual procedures.

5.

Replace return hose on vehicle with Return Hose, PN 4279366, and attach with 1/4" Clamp PN 6500650.

6.

Attach existing supply hose to new sending unit and secure with 5/16" Hose Clamp PN 6500651.

7.

On 1985 turbo equipped vehicles cap 1/4" return tube on pump flange with Rubber Cap PN 3580172.

8.

Start vehicle and inspect for leaks.
