Check the location of the 5th synchronizer spring. The spring should be positioned in the synchronizer hub as shown in Figure 2. Reposition the
spring if it is out of location.

7.

Install the new strut retainer plate, PN 4431894, with the three raised portions equally spaced between the struts.

8.

Install a new snap ring.

9.

Install end cover. Torque end cover bolts to 17-21 foot pounds.

10.

Fill the transaxle with "Dexron" type 7176 automatic transmission fluid to the recommended level.

11.

Road test the vehicle and check for proper transaxle operation.
