Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect and remove battery, battery tray and acid shield that covers the modulator assembly.
2.
Disconnect delta switch electrical connector from modulator assembly.
3.
Remove top modulator assembly bracket to fender shield mounting bolt.
4.
Disconnect two master cylinder supply tubes at modulator assembly, then loosen the tubes at the master cylinder so tubes can be swung out of the
way without kinking them.
5.
Raise and support vehicle.
6.
Disconnect modulator assembly 10-way connector, then remove remaining hydraulic brake lines from modulator.
7.
Remove modulator assembly bracket mounting bolt that is nearest the junction block.
8.
Loosen but do not remove mounting bracket bolt that is nearest the radiator.
9.
Lower vehicle, then remove modulator and bracket assembly.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install modulator assembly into vehicle, using protruding tab on modulator to locate and hold assembly in place. Ensure bracket is held by front
mounting bolt.
2.
Install but do not tighten modulator bracket to fender shield mounting bolt.
3.
Raise and support vehicle, then install mounting bracket bolt located nearest to the junction block. Torque both lower mounting bolts to 21 lb-ft
4.
Attach four hydraulic fluid lines to modulator assembly and torque fittings to 12 lb-ft
5.
Connect modulator assembly 10-way electrical connector.
6.
Lower vehicle, then install two master cylinder supply tubes and torque fittings at modulator and master cylinder to 12 lb-ft
7.
Torque modulator assembly to fender shield mounting bolt to 21 lb-ft
8.
Bleed brake system, then install acid shield, battery tray and battery.
