DISCUSSION:
When servicing front disc brakes or investigating a front brake grinding noise complaint, if severe rotor wear (grooving/scoring) is observed, inspect the
calipers for the following build date code range. If the calipers fall within the specified range, inspect the pads and determine the edge and batch codes.
Refer to the illustrations for location of the codes.
Caliper Build Date Code Range:
26002 through 27662
Edge Code:
6022 - AA, AG and AS
6050 - XJ and ZJ
Pad Batch Code:
48660 - AA, AG and AS
46031 - XJ and ZJ
If the PADS are marked with the specified edge and batch codes, replace the pads as well as the rotor(s).
