Body Controller: Vehicle Damage Warnings
The AG/AJ body controller has been observed to lock up due to transient voltage spikes generated by vehicle relays. As a result, the gauges and chimes
may not function properly. The problem can be resolved by unplugging and then reconnecting the body controller, which will allow the body controller
to reset. A TSB will be issued to fully address this problem.
Before disconnecting any body system module, make sure the ignition of OFF. Failure to do so could damage the module.
When testing voltage or continuity at any of the 1992 AG/AJ body system modules, use the terminal side (not wire end) of the connector (unless noted
otherwise). Do not probe a wire through the insulation; this will damage it and eventually cause it to fail because of corrosion.
Be careful when performing electrical tests so as to prevent accidental shorting of terminals. Such mistakes can damage fuses or components. Also, a
second code could be set, making diagnosis of the original problem more difficult.
Make sure the vehicle being tested has a fully charged battery.
When replacing a blown fuse, it is important to use only a fuse having the correct amperage rating. The use of a fuse with a rating other than indicated
may result in a dangerous electrical system overload. If a properly rated fuse continues to blow, it indicates a problem in the circuit that must be
corrected.
When replacing lamp bulbs, do not touch the new bulb with your fingers. Oil contamination will severely shorten bulb life. If the bulb comes in contact
with an oily surface, clean the bulb with rubbing alcohol.
