Oil Pressure Gauge: Testing and Inspection
1.
Run engine at different RPM's. Record gauge position at each RPM. Engine should be at normal operating temperature.
2.
Turn ignition OFF and remove oil pressure gauge assembly from cluster.

With ignition switch in On position, check for battery voltage across Ignition pin and ground pin.

If voltage or ground are missing, check wiring, printed circuit board and connections.
4.
Connect an ohmmeter to the oil pressure sending unit pin and the ground pin. Run engine at same RPM's used before, noting sending unit
resistance at each RPM.

5.
Compare the ohmmeter reading and gauge position with the Gauge Calibration Chart.
Multiple Gauge Malfunction
If the Voltmeter, Speedometer, Tachometer, and other gauges appear to be malfunctioning, proceed as follows:
1.
Remove the cluster.
2.
Check for ignition voltage at cavity 9 of the red cluster connector and ground.

If voltage is not present, repair open circuit.
3.
Check for ground continuity between cavity 14 of the red cluster connector and ground.
^
If a good ground is not present, repair open circuit.
