1.
Remove rocker arm shaft, as an assembly. See: Camshaft/Service and Repair/Camshaft Replacement
2.
Inspect rocker arm mounting portion of shafts for wear or damage.
3.
Check oil holes for clogging.
4.
Install rocker shafts into No. 1 bearing cap with notches positioned as shown in Fig. 12, then install bolts to retain shafts.
5.
Install rocker arms, bearing caps and springs, in order removed, onto shafts.
6.
Install bolts in No. 4 bearing cap to retain assembly.

7.
Lubricate camshaft journals and cams with engine oil before installation, then apply sealant as shown in Fig. 13.
8.
Install rocker assemblies with arrow mark on bearing cap and mark on cylinder head pointing in the same direction, Fig. 13.
9.
Torque bearing cap bolts to 85 inch lbs. in the following order; 3, 2, 1, 4.
10.
Repeat step 9 and torque to 180 inch lbs., then install distributor drive adapter assembly.
