Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair
Coolant Temperature Sensor Location
Removal
1.
Drain cooling system until coolant level is below thermostat housing.
2.
Remove fresh air duct.
3.
Disconnect electrical connector.
4.
Remove sensor.
Installation
1.
Install sensor. Torque to 60 in-lbs (7 Nm).
2.
Connect electrical connector.
3.
Fill cooling system.
4.
Install fresh air duct.
NOTE: ^ The Charge Temperature Sensor and Coolant Temperature Sensor are not interchangeable.
^ Interchanging these sensors can cause; rough running, lack of power, an extremely rich air/fuel ratio, or a no start condition, (plugs will be
fuel fouled).
^ Due to the similarities in appearance, connector type and thread, it is possible to install one in place of the other. Be sure the correct sensor is
installed.
