Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Master Cylinder Replacement
1.
Place drain pan under the master cylinder.
2.
Using a suitable wrench, disconnect brake lines from the master cylinder. Plug all lines and fittings.
3.
Remove master cylinder-to-brake booster attaching nuts.
4.
Pull master cylinder outward and away from brake booster.
5.
Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Prior to installing a new or rebuilt master cylinder, it should be bench bled, refer to Brakes and Traction Control/Brakes/Service and
Repair.
b. Torque master cylinder-to-brake booster attaching nuts to 170-230 inch lbs.
c. Torque brake line fittings to 170 inch lbs.
