*Two different separator plates are used for different engine applications and are identified by the numbers "1" and "2" as shown in Figure 1. During the
repair, a plate numbered "1" is replaced by one numbered "1", and one numbered "2" replaced by one numbered "2". The number "1" or "2" in the plate
is the last digit of the part number.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

The repair consists of replacing the existing valve body separator plate with a new plate from which one orifice has been eliminated (Figure 1). During
the change, it is extremely important that all valve body check balls remain in their correct locations.

1.

Remove valve body from vehicle using appropriate service manual procedure.

2.

Remove valve body screws and carefully separate valve body filter and housing. Carefully set valve body housing aside, keeping the eight check
balls in their correct locations.

3.

Remove the four transfer plate screws and separate the separator plate from the transfer plate. Note identification of separator plate ("1" or "2")

Select replacement separator plate with matching identification number. Verify that orifice has been eliminated in replacement plate.

5.

Assemble valve body and filter and install in transaxle. Refill transaxle with Mopar Plus Automatic Transmission Fluid Type 7176 and verify
proper operation.
