This sliding caliper single piston system uses a one piece hub and is actuated by the hydraulic system and disc assembly. Alignment and positioning of
the caliper is achieved by two machined guides or "ways" on the adapter, while caliper retaining clips allow lateral movement of the caliper. Outboard
shoe flanges are used to position and locate the shoe on the caliper fingers, while the inboard shoe is retained by the adapter. Braking force applied onto
the outboard shoe is transferred to the caliper, while braking force applied onto the inboard shoe is transferred directly to the adapter.
A square cut piston seal provides a hydraulic seal between the piston and the cylinder bore. A dust boot with a wiping lip installed in a groove in the
cylinder bore and piston, prevents contamination in the piston and cylinder bore area. Adjustment between the disc and the shoe is obtained
automatically by the outward relocation of the piston as the inboard lining wears and inward movement of the caliper as the outboard lining wears.
