Thermal Vacuum Valve: Testing and Inspection
Coolant Controlled Engine Vacuum Switch (CCEVS)
1. Check for disconnected vacuum hoses and proper valve installation. Check engine coolant level, add coolant as necessary.
2. With the CCEVS valve properly installed, disconnect molded connector from valve.
3. Connect a 1/8 inch I.D. hose to bottom port on valve.
4. With valve no warmer than 75 F°, blow through hose. If it is not possible to blow through the valve, the valve is faulty and must be replaced.
5. Operate engine until normal operating temperature is obtained and connect a suitable vacuum gauge to bottom port on valve.
6. Apply 10 inches of vacuum to the valve. If vacuum level drops more than one inch in 15 seconds, replace valve.
