Air Injection Pump: Service and Repair
NOTE: Servicing of the air pump is limited to replacement of the centrifugal fan filter or the entire air pump assembly. Do not disassemble the air pump
assembly.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect air and vacuum hoses from diverter or air switching valves.
3. Remove diverter or air switching valves from air pump.
4. Loosen air pump pivot and adjusting bolts. Remove drive belt.
5. On vehicles equipped with air conditioning, remove bracket retaining bolts and bracket from air pump.
6. Remove air pump bolts, pulley and air pump from vehicle.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Torque air pump retaining bolts to 220 inch lbs. Torque air pump pulley bolts to 105 inch lbs. Torque air pump
bracket bolts to 30 ft, lbs.
