Hybrid Drive Coolant Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair
TPIM Cooling System Temperature Sensor - Removal
TPIM COOLING SYSTEM TEMPERATURE SENSOR
WARNING: On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In
addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High
Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury See: Hybrid Drive
Systems/Battery System, Hybrid Drive/Service Precautions
1. Perform HEV specific high voltage power down and high voltage isolation check safety procedures. See: Hybrid Drive Systems/Battery System,
Hybrid Drive/Service and Repair/Battery System - High Voltage Power Down
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
CAUTION: Disconnecting the 12 V battery from the vehicle within two minutes of the last ignition key transition from Off to Run may cause a
Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) State Of Charge (SOC) mismatch.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Drain the TPIM cooling system See: Service and Repair/TPIM Cooling System Draining
NOTE: DO NOT spill coolant on electrical connections or connectors.
5. Disconnect the temperature sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove the temperature sensor (2).
