4. Measure the camshaft end play, if not within limits install a new thrust plate See: Specifications/Engine Specifications
5. Align the oil pump drive with the crankshaft and install the oil pump See: Engine Lubrication/Oil Pump/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement
6. Install a new O-ring on the oil pick up tube (1) and lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil.
7. Install the oil pick up tube (1) and tighten the bolts (2) to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
8. Install the oil pan See: Engine Lubrication/Oil Pan/Service and Repair/Engine Oil Pan - Installation
CAUTION: 5.7L engines equipped with the Multi-Displacement System (MDS) uses both standard roller tappets and deactivating roller
tappets. The deactivating roller tappets must be used in cylinders 1,4,6,7. The deactivating tappets can be identified by the two
holes in the side of the tappet body, for the latching pins.
CAUTION: When replacing the camshaft, all of the lifters must be replace or severe engine damage may occur.
