Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair
Vibration Damper - Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In
addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High
Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury See: Hybrid Drive
Systems/Battery System, Hybrid Drive/Service Precautions
1. Power the vehicle down See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Testing and Inspection.
2. Remove water pump drive belt See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Serpentine Accessory Drive Belt - Removal.
3. Partially drain the cooling system See: Cooling System/Service and Repair.
4. Remove upper radiator hose.
5. Remove fan shroud . See: Cooling System/Radiator Cooling Fan
6. Remove crankshaft damper bolt.
7. Insert Crankshaft Insert 8513A (2) into the crankshaft.
8. Remove damper (1) using a Three Jaw Puller 1023 (3).
