Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
Power Steering Pump - Installation
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Verify that the old pump pressure line extension fitting O-ring is removed and the new one is in place.
1. If replacing the pump pressure line extension fitting (6), install the fitting and the pressure line extension to pump bolt. Tighten the bolt to 20 Nm
(15 ft. lbs.).
2. Through the wheel well, position the power steering pump upper bracket over the Power Distribution Center (PDC) bracket studs.
3. Install the power steering pump lower mounting bolt (2) through the power steering bracket to the PDC bracket. Tighten the bolt to 8 Nm (71 in
lbs.).
4. Install the power steering return line (5) to the reservoir.
5. Install the power steering pressure line (4) to the pump pressure line extension fitting (6). Tighten the line to 34 Nm(25 ft. lbs.).
6. Connect the power steering pump electrical connectors (3).
7. Install the inner fender well. See: Body and Frame/Fender/Front Fender/Front Fender Liner/Description and Operation
8. Install the wheel. See: Wheels and Tires/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement
9. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
10. Install the power steering pump upper mounting bracket nuts (2) on the PDC bracket studs. Tighten the nuts to 10 Nm (88.5 in. lbs.).
