SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Water may enter the cowl air inlet for one of the following reasons:
1.
Water runs past the right hand outboard cowl top screen screw, and drips into the air inlet. (Vehicles built after 9/9/87 should not have this screw.)
2.
The foam seal on the underside of the cowl top screen may be folded/or the cowl top screen may not be installed properly.
3.
The mastic patches on the cowl screen support are improperly installed.
DIAGNOSIS
Water test vehicle to determine if water enters vehicle through air inlet.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
The following procedure covers the installation of a plastic water shield over the cowl air inlet.
1.
Remove windshield wiper arm assemblies.
2.
Remove the cowl top screen attaching screws and push-in fasteners, and remove cowl top screen from vehicle.
3.
Remove and discard the mastic patches on cowl top screen support.
