Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection

  Fuel system pressure should be released any time a fuel line is to be disconnected.

1. Disconnect fuel inlet hose from throttle body and connect pressure testers C-3292 and C-4749 between fuel filter hose and throttle body.
2. Using ATM tester C-4805, with key in Run position depress the ATM button, this will activate fuel pump and pressurize the system. If gauge

reads 13.5-15.5 psi, pressure is correct and further testing is not required. Reinstall fuel hose using new clamp and torque to 10 inch lbs.

3. If pressure is below 13.5 psi, install tester between fuel filter hose and fuel line and repeat test. If pressure is now correct, replace fuel filter. If no

change is observed, gently squeeze fuel hose. If pressure increases, replace pressure regulator. If no change is observed, problem is either a
plugged filter sock or defective fuel pump.

4. If pressure exceeds 15.5 psi, remove fuel return hose from throttle body. Install a suitable length of hose to throttle body and place open end of

hose into a clean container. Repeat test. If pressure is now correct, check for restricted fuel return line. If no change is observed, replace fuel
regulator.
