Automatic Shut Down (ASD) Relay: Description and Operation

Relay Locations

The Auto Shut Down (ASD) relay is located by the left strut tower, near the battery.  With the key in the "ON" or "START" position and an ignition
signal present at the Single Module Engine Cotroller (SMEC) the ASD relay supplies voltage to the fuel pump, fuel injector(s) and ignition coil.  When
there is no ignition signal present for over 2 seconds the SMEC interrupts the ground to the ASD relay disabling the fuel pump, fuel injector(s) and the
ignition coil.
