Rear Brake Rattle

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES ONLY TO VEHICLES WITH KELSEY HAYES REAR DISC BRAKES. 1990 AC AND AY BODIES BUILT AFTER
03-26-XX, EQUIPPED WITH BENDIX ABS ONLY.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Customer complaint of a rattle coming from the rear brakes while driving.

DIAGNOSIS:

Drive vehicle over a rough surface and verify if a rattle (from the calipers) can be heard from the rear of the vehicle. Apply the brakes lightly. If rattle is
eliminated, proceed with this bulletin.

Rear Disc Pad Set

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This repair involves replacement of the rear disc brake pads with a revised set.

Remove the rear shoe and lining as outlined in the appropriate service manual.

2.

Inspect the caliper adapter rails for grooves, brinneling, or hard spots.  Replace if necessary. Lubricate the adapter rails with a small amount of
Mopar Multipurpose Lubricant, PN 4318063, or equivalent.

3.

Install the revised rear disc pads, PN 4720644.
