Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Warning: The fuel system is under constant pressure, even when the engine is OFF. Always release fuel pressure before servicing any fuel
system component.
Removal
1.
Remove air cleaner assembly, and release fuel system pressure.
2.
Disconnect negative battery cable.
Warning: Place a shop towel around fuel inlet chamber to contain any fuel remaining in the system.
3.
Remove 3 attaching screws from pressure regulator. Pull pressure regulator off of throttle body.
4.
Carefully remove gasket and O-ring from fuel pressure regulator.
Installation
1.
Carefully install new O-ring and gasket and press fuel pressure regulator into place in throttle body. Install 3 mounting screws and torque to 5 Nm
(40 lb-in).
2.
Connect negative battery cable.
Note:
ASD and fuel pump relays remain energized for 7 minutes during the following test, unless the test is stopped or the ignition switch is turned to
the OFF position.
3.
Using scan tool, place ignition switch in "RUN" position and use Actuate Output Test "Auto Shutdown (ASD) Relay", to activate fuel pump and
pressurize system, and check for leaks
4.
Install air cleaner.
