4. Remove retaining ring from housing as shown, then the end cover and pressure plate spring.
5. Remove control valve assembly and control valve spring.

6. Clamp land end of control valve assembly into a suitable soft-jawed vise, then remove ball seat.
7. Remove parts as shown, inspect ball and ball seat and replace if worn or damaged.
8. Using a suitable plastic hammer, tap drive shaft end lightly until pressure plate is free, then remove shaft.
NOTE: Prior to removal of shaft, inspect and if corroded, clean with crocus cloth. This will prevent damage to shaft bushing.
CAUTION: Use care not to damage housing.
