SAFETY RECALL - HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR
Dear Chrysler Corporation Vehicle Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Chrysler Corporation has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1990 and 1991 Chrysler New Yorker Salon and
Dodge Dynasty, and some 1991 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Avenue passenger cars.
On these cars, electrical terminals on the heater blower motor resistor block may corrode due to water leaking through a fastener hole in the cowl panel
above the resistor block. This corrosion can increase electrical resistance, causing the terminals to overheat. A loss of blower motor operation may result.
The overheating may also cause a fire to start in the cowl where the resistor block is located, which could be hazardous to vehicle occupants.
Your car, whose Vehicle Identification Number is shown on the enclosed form, is one of the affected vehicles. For this reason we ask that you arrange
for service to correct the condition without delay. The service and required parts as defined in this letter will be provided free of charge.
To correct the condition, your dealer will replace the resistor block and seal the area above it. In addition, the dealer will inspect the resistor block wiring
connector for heat damage and replace it if necessary.
The work will take about one hour to complete. However, additional time may be required depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and
processed. To obtain this free service:

Contact your dealer as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for the service.

Take the enclosed Owner Recall Notification Form with you at the time of your appointment and give it to your dealer. The form shows the
identification number for the vehicle which requires service.
If you have any problem obtaining the needed service, please contact the Chrysler Zone Service Office in your area. (It is listed under "Service
Assistance" in your Operator's Manual.) A Zone representative will arrange for prompt servicing of your car.
