ABS Control Module: Description and Operation
ABS Controller Operation
The Anti-lock Brake Control Module (ABCM) monitors wheel speed sensor signals as well as several internal functions of the hydraulic assembly. The
primary functions of the ABCM are to detect wheel locking tendencies, control the brake system while in anti-lock mode, monitor the system for proper
operation, and control the display of fault codes while in diagnostic mode.
The ABCM continuously monitors each wheel speed sensor to determine if any wheel is beginning to lock up. If wheel lock up is detected, the ABCM
will modulate brake fluid pressure in some or all of the hydraulic circuits to prevent wheel lock-up and provide optimum braking.
The ABCM constantly monitors the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) for proper operation. If the ABCM detects an error, it can disable the anti-lock
function and turn on the ANTI-LOCK warning lamp and/or the BRAKE warning lamp.
The ABCM has a self diagnostic capability. Fault Codes may be stored in the ABCM to be displayed for diagnostic purposes. The ABCM can be
requested to display these codes, if any are present, by entering ABS diagnostic mode. For further information, see DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING

The ABCM is located in the trunk between the rear seat bulkhead and the rear bulkhead trim panel.
The ABCM is a serviceable component.
