Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Control Module: Service and Repair
Before attempting to diagnose, remove or install any airbag system components, you must first disconnect and isolate the battery ground
cable. Failure to do so could result in accidental deployment and possible personal injury.
The ASDM contains one of the impact sensors which enables the system to activate the airbag. To avoid accidental deployment, never connect ASDM
electrically to system unless it is bolted to vehicle.
REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect and isolate battery ground cable.
2.
Remove floor console, vertical console trim bezel, vertical console carrier and radio as necessary.
3.
Remove glove box, and the left side fasteners on instrument panel reinforcement, if necessary.
4.
Disconnect electrical connectors and remove ASDM.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install ASDM (arrow pointing forward) in instrument panel support bracket, or on console reinforcement, as applicable, ensuring insert tab on
ASDM is in slot on support bracket.
2.
Attach ASDM to support bracket and torque to 15-20 lb-in.
3.
Mount instrument panel center support bracket to left and right instrument panel reinforcements.
4.
Connect ASDM electrical connectors.
5.
Install vertical console carrier and floor console.
6.
Do not connect battery ground cable. Refer to Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Procedures.
