Camshaft: Service and Repair

Before servicing the fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel filter, throttle body or fuel injectors, the fuel system pressure must be released, refer to Powertrain
Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Service and Repair. 

1.

Remove intake manifold, cylinder head covers, cylinder heads, timing chain cover and timing chain as previously outlined.

2.

Remove rocker arm and shaft assemblies, pushrods and tappets. Identify each component so component will be replaced in its original location.

3.

Remove camshaft thrust plate.

4.

Install a long bolt into front of camshaft to aid in camshaft removal.

5.

Remove the camshaft, using care not to damage cam bearing.

6.

Reverse procedure to install, torquing all attaching bolts to specifications.
