Grand Caravan L4-153 2.5L SOHC (1989)
Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect vapor separator hose from carburetor, then electrical connector from A/C cycling switch, if equipped.
3. Remove drive belt adjustment locking screw from front of pump, then the pump end hose bracket attaching nut, if equipped.
4. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect return hose from gear tube and drain oil from pump through open end of hose. Do not allow hoses to
touch hot exhaust manifold or catalyst.
5. Remove right side splash shield, then disconnect remaining fluid hoses from pump. Plug pump ports and hose ends to prevent contamination.
6. Remove pump lower stud nut and pivot screw.
7. Lower vehicle and remove belt from pulley, then move pump rearward to clear mounting bracket.
8. Remove pump adjustment bracket.
9. Rotate pump clockwise so pump faces rear of vehicle, then remove pump.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
