SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Reverse gear will not engage/reverse gear blockout.
DIAGNOSIS

Set the parking brake and start the engine with the transaxle in neutral. Depress the clutch pedal to the floor and wait for about three seconds to
allow the clutch disc to stop spinning. Then move the shift lever to engage reverse. If the shift lever will not move into the reverse position (no
apparent grinding) return the lever to the neutral position and release the clutch pedal.

Repeat the above steps at least 10 times. If during these additional shift attempts, the lever will not shift 50% of the time and if there is no grinding
noise accompanied with it, then a blocking condition exists that is preventing the reverse engagement.

Finally to overcome the blockout condition depress clutch pedal to the floor, then release slightly (partial engagement) and force the shift lever
into reverse, thereby forcing the reverse idler into engagement. This will result in some gear clash (grinding) noise.
