Balance Shaft: Service and Repair
1. Remove timing belt cover, crankshaft damper and all other necessary components to allow access to balance shafts.
Exploded View Of Cylinder Block, Balance Shafts, Crankshaft, Piston & Connecting Rod Assembly.
2. Remove gear cover double ended retaining stud, gear cover, and gears refering to Figure above.
3. Remove balance shaft gear and chain sprocket retaining bolts and crankshaft chain sprocket. To remove chain and sprocket assembly, use two pry
bars to work sprocket back and forth.
4. Remove carrier rear cover and balance shafts.
