Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair

LEVER
1. Insert the leading end of the front parking brake cable through the mounting flange hose in the parking brake lever. Slide it through until the
retainer fingers lock in place. Make sure all fingers are engaged preventing removal of cable from bracket.
2. Pull button on end of cable strand out of housing and route into lever, then attach the front cable button on the lever.
3. Slide any extra cable back into housing.
4. Position parking brake lever (1) over mounting studs, against left lower cowl (3).
5. Install three mounting nuts (2). Tighten all three nuts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
6. Connect wiring connector (2) at parking brake indicator lamp switch.
7. Attach interface connector (3) to parking brake lever (1).
8. Install lower cowl trim.
9. Install left front door opening sill scuff plate.
10. Reconnect the parking brake cable equalizer to the three parking brake cables and reset the automatic adjuster tension on the cables. Remove the
"grenade" pin from lever if a new lever is being installed.See: Service and Repair
11. Check operation of parking brake lever and parking brakes.
