Steering Shaft: Service and Repair
Shaft Cover Seal - Removal

REMOVAL

1. Install a steering wheel holder locking the steering wheel in the STRAIGHT-AHEAD position.

2. Reposition the floor carpeting to access the steering column coupling at the base of the column.
3. Remove the intermediate shaft coupling bolt (1).
4. Separate the intermediate shaft (2) at the base of the column from the intermediate shaft extension (3).

5. Remove fasteners (1) securing shaft seal and cover (2) in place, then lift shaft seal and cover from intermediate shaft extension (4) and floor pan.
