Camshaft: Removal and Replacement

Camshaft - Removal

REMOVAL

1. Remove the radiator and cooling fans from the vehicle.
2. Remove the cylinder heads See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Cylinder Head - Removal.
3. Remove the timing chain and camshaft sprocket .  See: Timing Components/Timing Chain/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Timing

Chain & Sprockets - Removal

4. Remove the yoke retainer (1).
5. Remove the hydraulic lifters (4) See: Lifter / Lash Adjuster/Service and Repair/Hydraulic Lifters - Removal. Identify each tappet for reinstallation

in original location.
