2. When installing the driver airbag, reconnect the two clockspring driver airbag pigtail wire connectors to the airbag inflator connector receptacles

by pressing straight in on the connectors, then push the locks straight into the connectors. Be certain to engage each keyed and color-coded
connector to the matching connector receptacle.

3. Each clockspring driver airbag pigtail wire has a plastic retainer that must be pushed onto one of the four inflator mounting studs on the back of

the airbag housing to be certain that the wires are not pinched between the driver airbag and the horn switch or the steering wheel armature.

4. Carefully position the driver airbag into the steering wheel hub.
5. Engage the lower airbag snap retainer wire loop (4) onto the lower hook of the steering wheel armature. The lower snap retainer wire loop has a

distinctive V-shape and must always be installed onto the six o'clock hook of the steering wheel armature.

6. Roll the driver airbag upwards and press firmly and evenly over the two upper snap retainer wire loop locations simultaneously until they snap into

place over the two upper hooks of the steering wheel armature.

WARNING:  DO NOT CONNECT THE BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE. PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH MAY RESULT IF THE

Passenger Air Bag - Removal

REMOVAL

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before

attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component
diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to
discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper
precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury when removing a deployed airbag, rubber gloves, eye protection, and a long-sleeved shirt should

be worn. There may be deposits on the airbag unit and other interior surfaces. In large doses, these deposits may cause irritation
to the skin and eyes.

NOTE: The following procedure is for replacement of an ineffective or damaged passenger airbag. If the airbag is ineffective or damaged, but

not deployed, review the recommended procedures for handling non-deployed supplemental restraints. See: Service and Repair. If the
passenger airbag has been deployed, review the recommended procedures for service after a supplemental restraint deployment
before removing the airbag from the vehicle. See: Service and Repair.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before further service.
2. Remove the upper glove box from the top of the instrument panel See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Glove Compartment/Service and

Repair/Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal. 

3. Remove the three screws that secure the forward edge of the passenger airbag door (1) to the instrument panel. Be certain not to drop the screws

down the defroster duct opening. 

4. Remove the two screws that secure the inboard edge of the passenger airbag door to the instrument panel.
5. Remove the two screws (2) that secure the rearward edge of the passenger airbag door to the instrument panel.
6. Remove the three screws (5) that secure the passenger airbag bracket to the instrument panel structural support (3).
7. Disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector (4) from the airbag inflator pigtail wire connector near the center of the airbag mounting

bracket. To disconnect the connector:
a. Slide the red Connector Position Assurance (CPA) lock on the top of the connector toward the side of the connector.
b. Depress the connector latch tab and pull the two halves of the connector straight away from each other.

8. Disengage the retainer of the airbag pigtail harness connector from the instrument panel structural support.
9. Using a trim stick or another suitable wide flat-bladed tool, gently pry the outboard edge of the passenger airbag door upward away from the top of
