7. Install appropriate inner tie rod removal tool on inner tie rod (1) hex.
CAUTION: If inner tie rod cannot be removed using specified tools, do not use a hammer or heat to loosen. Damage to steering gear will occur.
Replace entire steering gear.
8. Unthread and remove inner tie rod (1) from steering gear (2).
Outer Tie Rod
OUTER TIE ROD
1. Place front wheels of vehicle in STRAIGHT-AHEAD position.
2. Raise and support vehicle. See: Wheels and Tires/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair
3. Remove wheel mounting nuts (3), then tire and wheel assembly (1).
