7. Remove the screw fastening the cable to the rear brake adapter (Figure 4).

8. Unhook the cable eyelet from the shoe lever (Figure 4).
9. Slide the cable out of the brake adapter.
10. Place a 13 mm 12-point box wrench over the cable retainer at the intermediate bracket as shown to collapse the retainer fingers (Figure 5).
