A/C Expansion Valve - Rear
Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: Refer to the applicable warnings and cautions for this system before performing the following operation. Failure to follow the
warnings and cautions could result in possible personal injury or death.
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Disconnect the underbody refrigerant rear extension lines from the underbody refrigerant lines located behind the right rear wheel housing (Figure
1).
5. Remove the nut that secures the underbody refrigerant rear extension lines and sealing plate to the rear A/C expansion valve which extends
through the rear floor panel.
6. Disconnect the underbody refrigerant rear extension lines from the rear A/C expansion valve.
7. Remove and discard the O-ring seals from the underbody refrigerant line and extension line fittings.
8. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened underbody refrigerant line and extension line fittings.

9. Remove the metal retaining strap from the rear A/C expansion valve (Figure 2).
10. Remove the two bolts that secure the rear A/C expansion valve to the rear evaporator and remove the expansion valve.
11. Remove and discard the O-ring seals from the rear evaporator and install plugs in, or tape over the opened rear evaporator tube fittings and all rear
expansion valve ports.
